STEM Robotics Showcase
Robotics Showcase
The Bibbulmun STEM Showcase is an annual event held in the Perth Hills which promotes students’ participation in the Digital Technologies curriculum.
The showcase is hosted by the Bibbulmun Robotics Network, a consortium of 12 primary and secondary schools located in the Bibbulmun hills. The schools work together to produce and promote an event where students from Years 3 / 4 and 5 / 6 participate in robotics challenges that promote coding, iteration and problem solving.
The showcase is front loaded by in-school robotics sessions. At Walliston Primary School, a six week ‘Robotics Enrichment Class’ is offered to our students. Selected students in Year 3 / 4 participate in our ‘Sphero Superheroes’ program and students in Years 5 / 6 participate in our ‘EV3 Masters’ program.
This program culminates with participation in the Bibbulmun STEM Showcase and, for the seniors, participation in the First Lego League. During the program, the following learning dispositions are promoted and enhanced:
Problem solving, collaboration, team working, communication and creativity.
The Bibbulmun STEM Showcase, is unique to the Perth Hills schools and has received recognition from the broader department of Education as an initiative of outstanding merit.
